As we roll into the dog days of summer, we still have time for picnics, trips to the beach, and charitable giving. That’s right — AVSO’s Annual Campaign is going on now, and all gifts — large and small — go a long way toward helping us continue the work we do. Thank you for your continuing support of AVSO. Your gifts of time, treasure, and talent make it possible for us to do what we do, and we look forward to partnering with you for another year! Albion Volunteer Service Organization (AVSO) was founded in 1988 as an answer to the community's need for a multi-purpose center to provide support to Albion's nonprofit organizations. Because most of Albion's community groups are completely volunteer, there was a need for equipment, services and office/storage space that few could afford on their own. Further, groups sought volunteers and resources for their programs and events, but had no centralized place where requests could be matched or where interested volunteers could learn about community opportunities. More information here. Canduace graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Education. She currently serves as a trustee on several local boards: Johnson’s Child Care and Development Center, Albion Public Library, and the Faith-Based Initiative of Albion. She joined the Albion Volunteer Service Organization as an AmeriCorps VISTA in 2004 and worked primarily with the Strengthening Families Initiative. She was named Executive Director in April 2006. “I’m delighted to be able to serve Albion,” she said. Updated: August 15, 2006 |
