A phone call from someone with no car who needs to get to a doctor's appointment. A request for information from someone seeking help who just doesn't quite know who to call. A community organization meeting in the conference room. Youth (and adults) looking for something to do. Any or all of these things (and more) are often part of a typical day here at AVSO, where We Serve Those Who Serve Albion by partnering with local organizations and filling in to help solve community problems. Over the past year, we have done many things to reach out and help others. This past fall, we collected clothing donations for Hurricane Katrina refugees displaced to Battle Creek. We mobilized youth volunteers to participate in Bowl for Warmth, a bowl-a-thon fundraiser aimed at raising funds for Walk for Warmth. We have connected people in need with volunteer drivers so they could get to important medical appointments. We serve our member organizations through operating a full-time office where they can receive mail and packages, hold meetings and make copies. Each of these things has been necessary to the community -- and we couldn't do it without your help! Your generous contributions make it possible for us to keep running the Volunteer Center, organizing projects for the VolunTEENS, connecting volunteers to opportunities, and continuing to seek new ways to reach out to Albion.
