Albion-Homer United Way 2004 Campaign

The 2004-05 Albion-Homer United Way campaign kick off breakfast was held recently at Agape Family Center in ALbion. The goal for the campaign this year is $80,000. Nineteen organizations received financial support in 2003-04. An additional $15,000 was distributed to local nonprofit organizations in Albion and Homer communities.

"We are able to impact issues and return significant resources to the community because our expenses are low," said Executive Director, Terry Langston. We work hard to ensure that 80 to 90 percent of every dollar received goes to addressing community issues in Albion and Homer."

The purpose of the Albion-Homer United Way is to increase the organized capacity of people to care for one another by uniting together to improve lives in Albion and Homer communities. This mission is met through organized giving by individuals and redirected to community organizations to address unmet needs. Much of this effort began with the annual "kick off" held on Thursday, September 9 at the Agape Family Center. More than 40 people attended the event to help kick off this year's campaign goal of $80,000. Led by board member and community leader Eusebio Solis, Jr., the campaign will involve 30 volunteers over the course of the campaign. We are excited about this yaer's goal and optimistic that we will meet our goals on time. "The needs are great bot communities and we intend to continue to help address the growing need," said Eusebio Solis.

"The excitement is building for great things for the United Way," said new Executive Director Terry Langston. "We want to icnrease participation through volunteering and giving. Our goal of $80,000 will be significant in helping us do our part in addressing issues and needs in Albion and Homer communities."

Anna Weiskittel, Board President of the Albion-Homer United Way, echoed that sentiment: "We believe our goals will be met this year because we have great partners. Thanks to all who gave last year, we have been able to meet our goals and provide significant resources to both communities. We can do even better this year and indeed, will be calling on all in Albion and Homer to participate again this year."

Even though campaign season is from September 2004 through August 2005, donations are accepted and appreciated through the year. Donations can be made out the the Albion-Homer United Way.
